Born in the United Kingdom, I moved to Canada as a
child and now live in the Pacific Northwest, in Victoria,
a beautiful part of the world where the surrounding
landscape inspires an affinity with nature.
Art has been part of my life for as long as I
can remember, and I sold my first commissioned portrait at the age of sixteen.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts at University, I
dabbled in web design, and in the 1990's created a small
online gallery to showcase various portraits I had
painted as a part-time hobby over the years. As
interest in my work grew, art became my focus in life and I was able to make painting a
full-time profession. Today, I'm delighted to
have portraits hanging in private collections
throughout the world. Painting for a living
is very much a dream come true, and one for
which I am immensely grateful.
I have
always had an enduring fascination and love for
animals, and been most inspired by the
magnificent detail and sensitivity in the
paintings of artists such as Carl Brenders
& Steven Townsend. After painting all
manner of subjects, turning to our faithful
companions in the end was a natural choice. I delight in trying to create the
texture of soft fur on a flat canvas and bring out
an animal's spirit through their eyes...capturing a message they cannot say aloud.
I find living with a pet and
sharing a part of my life with them makes
everything a little more special,
enriches the everyday. I experience this
through my clients as well - the love
they have for their pets, their
excitement in having a custom portrait
painted - and I am honoured by their
trust in my ability to capture the spirit
of their special animal companions. Many
of my previous clients have in fact
remained friends and kept in touch. It's
so rewarding, and I wouldn't give it up
for anything. I feel so fortunate being
able to do something I love, which can at
times help others to deal with their
grief over losing a beloved friend. |

When I
created this web site years ago, it was
intended as a place for visitors to come and
celebrate pets of all kinds. New portraits
are always being added, as well as fun extras
for pet lovers. It's a way for me to share my
appreciation and my love for both animals and art. Please feel free to
contact me with
any questions or comments you may have. I do hope you enjoy your visit
and come back again soon!
